Asian growth drives Messe Frankfurt in 2012


News this week: German exhibition organiser Messe Frankfurt announced record sales from its international business as the company generated total revenues of US$573 million in the 2011 financial year.

In the first half of 2012, the company’s Frankfurt-based businesses contributed 67% of total revenue which amounted to US$379 million. Revenues generated from outside of Germany were a record high of US$162 million – amounting to 28% of overall revenue. In particular, the company attributed revenues from Asian subsidiaries of Messe Frankfurt Asia Holding as the main driver of growth – accounting for US$100 million of revenues.

According to Messe Frankfurt, it organised a total of 100 trade fairs and exhibitions globally in 2011. These events were attended by around 3.4 million visitors and 68,800 exhibitors. Outside of Germany, the company organised 63 trade fairs and exhibitions which attracted an estimated 30,650 exhibitors and 1,063 million visitors.

The company is expecting revenues to increase to over US$610 million in the 2012 financial year.
