Hannover’s Chengdu Motor Show closes with successful results
News this week: Earlier this month, Hannover Milano Fairs Shanghai Ltd. (HMF) organised the 17th Chengdu Motor Show (CDMS) featuring more than 1,300 vehicles
from 102 auto brands.
CDMS was held from
29th August to 7th September, covering 150,000 m2
of exhibition area at Century City New International Convention &
Exhibition Centre. During the 10-day show, over 674,500 visits were recorded.
This year’s theme
was “Driven by a Colorful Auto Show” and CDMS featured a wide range of automobile
manufacturers including the debut of 68 vehicles and 17 concept cars. Exhibitors
included international brands, joint venture brands and domestic brands. HMF estimated
that a total of 32,652 vehicles were displayed at the show.

Fiera Roma signs MoU with Chengdu Exposition Bureau
News this week: Government-backed venue operator and trade show organiser, Fiera Roma, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) agreement with the Chengdu Exposition Bureau to internationalise their respective trade shows.
Representing the Lazio region in Italy, Fiera Roma is looking to expand its
presence in China. The organiser recently partnered to jointly organise its
first international event abroad – the Beijing (Yanqing) International Wine Exposition. The event was held from 29th to 31st July 2014 at
the Badaling International Exhibition Center in Beijing.
The latest MoU signing follows a series of similar partnerships
international organisers have entered into. Earlier in 2014, the Chengdu Bureau
entered into partnership agreements with Reed Exhibitions and UBM.

UBM signs MOU with Chengdu Exposition Bureau
News this week: International B2B media group, UBM plc, has signed a strategic cooperation MOU with the Chengdu Exposition Bureau. Under the terms
of the MOU, UBM and bureau will cooperate on the exchange of information,
talent management and training, and launching international exhibition projects
in Chengdu.
The MOU was signed
during the 3rd China (Beijing) International Trade in Services Fair, and was attended by Mr Fu Yonglin, Vice
Mayor of Chengdu, Tim Cobbold, CEO of UBM plc, Mr Mu Tao, Director of Chengdu
Exposition Bureau, Jimé Essink, President & CEO of UBM
Asia, and Philip Chapnick,
Group Chief Representative of UBM in China.
Mr Mu of the
Chengdu Exposition Bureau said, “Chengdu exhibition economy has achieved a
leading position in west China; however it is a long journey for Chengdu to
become a truly world famous exhibition city. The difference lies in the
internalisation level which also means a great growth potential for Chengdu. To
strengthen strategic cooperation with world renowned exhibition organizers is
another important measure to develop the exhibition economy in Chengdu that
will enable Chengdu to leverage the excellent international platforms and
exhibition resources, expand international collaboration, bring more
international exhibitions and build Chengdu into a famous Chinese exhibition
city with international influence.”

Reed China signs MoU with CCPIT Chengdu
News this week: Reed Exhibitions Greater China, a subsidiary of Reed Exhibitions, has announced the signing of an MoU with
the Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Exposition (CCPIT Chengdu) outlining future strategic
cooperation.
The MoU will help to
promote a range of partnership activities including information sharing,
executive and line staff training, enhanced support for Reed Exhibitions’
Chengdu-based trade shows in the electronics manufacturing, medicine and
medical equipment, gifts and homeware industries.
Reed’s Chengdu-based
trade shows in the targeted industries currently include NEPCON West China, China (Chengdu) Gifts & Houseware Fair, and the co-located API China, SINOPHEX and PHARMPACK.

Messe Frankfurt to launch automotive aftermarket show in Chengdu
News this week: The inaugural edition of Chengdu International Trade Fair for
Automotive Parts and Aftermarket Services (CAPAS) will be launched at the Chengdu Century City New International Exhibition & Convention
Center in south-western
China later this year. The show is organised by Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) and the China Council for the Promotion of
International Trade, Automotive Sub-Council (CCPIT-Auto).
The three-day trade
show will run from 21st to 23rd July 2014, covering three
main automotive industry sectors: Parts & Components, Repair &
Maintenance and Accessories & Tuning. The organisers are expecting to
gather 700 exhibitors over 35,000 m2 of exhibition space, and
attract some 20,000 trade visitors.
Jason Cao, senior
general manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK), commented, “Our aim is to make CAPAS
the leading trade fair for automotive parts and aftermarket services in
Southwest China. We are supported in this endeavour as Messe Frankfurt owns the
global brand Automechanika, the world’s largest automobile aftermarket trade
fair series held in Asia, Europe, North America, South America and Africa and
the company’s extensive global network will attract both exhibitors and
visitors to the show.”
