News this week: Last week, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council
(TAITRA) and Tokyo Big Sight
signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the cooperation between the two
organisations.
The MoU was signed by
TAITRA president and CEO, Chao Yuen-chuan, and Tokyo Big Sight Inc’s president
and CEO, Kenichi Shimada. According to TAITRA, the number of professional
exhibitions in Japan last year was four times that of Taiwan, while international
conventions were 2.2 times.
Chao commented, “Tokyo
Big Sight was established only 16 years ago, but now it is the most important
exhibition managing company in Japan with yearly earnings of more than US$266
million and the highest utilisation rates. We should be able to learn from
their experience after signing the MoU… Tokyo Big Sight has been looking to
expand its overseas business, and signing the MoU is one way to do that.”
