News this week: UBM
Asia, a subsidiary of UBM plc, expects
revenues in the ASEAN region to triple over the next three years. UBM Asia
plans to achieve this target through new event launches in the region as well
as acquiring existing companies and partnerships with both associations and
governments.
The ASEAN reportedly
account for nearly 7% of UBM Asia’s revenues, while China and Hong Kong
generated about half of the 2011 total, followed by India (20%) and Japan.
M. Gandhi, managing
director of ASEAN, UBM Asia, stated, “We will treat ASEAN as one business, and
all ASEAN offices will help each other and share resources… The biggest
challenge I see here is the mind-set. Instead of manufacturing for Thailand,
they should think about the whole region.”
