News this week: Germany-based international exhibition organiser, Messe Frankfurt, is exploring ways to expand its business in Asia, particularly in the Philippines. Senior management of Messe Frankfurt met officials from the Philippines Government’s Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) during a private meeting to discuss forming a partnership to support the country’s export and other industries.
According to the Philippine Star, Messe Frankfurt has been represented locally by Worldwide Exhibitions Linkage Services (WE-Link) since the beginning of this year. In 2011, Messe Frankfurt organised 64 fairs outside of Germany, including Vietnam, Thailand, Shanghai, Korea, Hong Kong and Mumbai.
President and CEO of Messe Frankfurt, Wolfgang Marzin, was quoted saying, “We all believe that Asia will be the next key market we should look into. We have looked at Singapore, we have Indonesia in the focus, and we’re also open to look at the Philippines as a venue. We not only ask you to come to Frankfurt but mainly if we can have a partnership with the Philippines.”
