Overseas visitors jumped 50% at Furniture China

News this week: UBM Asia reported a new record attendance of over 74,000 visitors at Furniture China 2011. According to UBM Asia, a total of 51,972 local visitors were present along with 22,592 overseas visitors – an increase of 9.7% and 50.3% respectively from the previous edition. The exhibition was organised by UBM Sinoexpo, a Shanghai-based joint-venture company of UBM China and Shanghai Sinoexpo International Exhibition, and the China National Furniture Association. The four-day exhibition ran from 14th to 17th September 2011, and covered a total exhibition space of 600,000 m2.

A total of 2,600 exhibitors were spread over three venues, with 1,400 exhibitors of home furniture, office furniture, kitchen, cabinets and furnishings located at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), and 750 exhibitors of woodworking machinery and raw materials at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center (SWEECC). The remaining 450 exhibitors were from the China National Furniture Expo at JSWB Global Home Furnishings Center.

According to UBM Asia, overseas visitors from 155 countries and regions attended the exhibition, with 43.3% coming from Asia and Middle East, 26.3% from Europe, 11.3% from North America, 8.8% from Oceania, 6.4% from Latin America and 3.9% from Africa. UBM’s list of the top 30 “best-represented” overseas countries or regions at Furniture China includes the U.S., Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, India, Korea and others.
