News this week: This week, the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) reported a record attendance figure of 5,969,789 visitors at all events held at the HKCEC during the period July 2010 to June 2011 – an increase of 25% over the 2009 figures.
HKCEC’s management attributed the visitor growth to a larger event portfolio and an increase in size of hosted events. A total of 1,235 events were held during the period, of which 116 were exhibitions. The exhibitions occupied an average gross exhibition space of 16,272 m2. There were 18 exhibitions with a gross space greater than 30,000 m2.
The HKCEC also reported 10 new additions on top of 102 recurring exhibitions. Some 35 of the recurring exhibitions recorded between 10% to 83% growth in terms of gross exhibition space compared with previous editions.
