News this week: Hong Kong-listed B2B e-commerce company, Alibaba.com, announced the hosting of the third edition of its India offline sourcing event in Gurgaon on 13th October.
The event provides an opportunity for Indian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) on Alibaba.com’s marketplace to promote Indian products to markets such as North American, Europe and Australia. The event is split into two sessions, namely, an orientation session and one-on-one business matching meetings. Indian SMEs who attend the orientation session will get first-hand information about various export markets. A selected number of qualified Alibaba.com members will also have the chance to meet one-on-one with international retailers.
Sandeep Deshpande, country general manager of Alibaba.com India, was quoted, “India has emerged as a reliable, cost-competitive destination to fulfil the growing sourcing needs of international buyers, and we see that Indian SMEs are instrumental to this development. We are hopeful that the availability of opportunities like this sourcing event will make it easier for Indian small suppliers to draw the attention of international traders and retailers, converting potential buyer interest into real orders.”
