News this week: Trade fair and event organiser Messe München International (MMI) reported a record high results in 2010 as revenues reached US$430 million. Messe München GmbH, the company’s Germany-based arm, ended the year with revenues of US$367 million. MMI reported EBITDA of US$114 million, of which US$71 million was generated outside of Germany.
The company cited several trade shows as key contributors to its record results that included bauma, ispo, IFAT ENTSORGA, EXPO REAL and electronica, as well as bauma China. LASER China and electronica & productronica China, both posted strong results – visitor increases of 30% and 28% respectively. MMI also successfully launched bC India, a new construction machinery trade fair in Mumbai, which is a joint venture show organised with AEM – the North-American Association of Equipment Manufacturers.
Klaus Dittrich, chairman and CEO of Messe München International said, “We have a strong portfolio featuring many leading world fairs and this underlines how competitive we are as a Group. We have been able to participate very actively in the upturn in the world economy and we achieved the highest level of sales in the history of Messe München. In the events we organise outside Germany we are seeing growth across the board, in double-digit figures.”
