HKTDC exhibition revenues hit US$200 million

News this week: Last week, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) published its annual report for the fiscal year ended 31st March 2011. The HKTDC’s revenues generated from exhibitions and missions rose by 7.3% reaching US$200 million. Overall, the HKTDC’s total revenues, including a US$48 million government subvention, were US$308 million – a 7.2% year-on-year increase.

Revenues from print magazines and its online marketplace increased 1.2% to US$24 million and revenues from operations of the HKTDC-owned Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) were up by 9% to US$18 million.

HKTDC executive director, Fred Lam, stated in the annual report, “With global economic recovery remaining on track through 2010/11, the HKTDC focused on helping our SMEs realise the opportunities that emerged from this favourable business environment. Foreseeing that the market-wide pessimism that marked much of early 2010 would gradually turn to optimism – particularly for the economically robust region of Asia – we introduced initiatives to help Hong Kong companies equip themselves for the new global economy.”
