UFI: Global exhibition industry moves into recovery

News this week: UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, released its 6th semi-annual “Global Barometer Survey,” which was conducted in December 2010. The survey reveals that the global exhibition industry has largely left behind the recessionary business environment of the past several years.

Data was collected from 173 companies in 54 countries including UFI members, members of Society of Independent Show Organizers in the U.S. and members of Association International de Ferias de America for Central & South America. A majority of those surveyed in the three regions (62% in Americas, 52% in Asia/Pacific and 64% in Middle East/Africa) registered an increase in profits of more than 10% in 2010 over 2009.

The perception of a recovery in Europe appears to be lagging other regions as the majority in Americas, Asia/Pacific and Middle East/Africa thought “the impact of the economic crisis on the exhibition business is now over”, versus just 23% of European participants agreeing with that statement.

Paul Woodward, UFI managing director, was quoted in the press release, “We think that this 6th Global Barometer provides a very accurate view of the state of the exhibition industry. It’s certainly reassuring to see that our industry has now recovered in all regions.”

The UFI press release has full details.
