Alibaba.com launches “Fulfillment by AliExpress”

News this week: Alibaba.com has launched a new shipping and logistics service, Fulfillment by AliExpress, an online platform that helps its customers with shipment tracking and goods inspection. The new service is available through Alibaba’s AliExpress and is reportedly provided by a third party partner, the GELS Enterprise Shanghai Company Ltd.

Alibaba claims that customers using the service could realise discounts of up to 30% on shipping costs due to “bulk shipping deals and the combining of multiple international shipments from different suppliers into a single shipment for one buyer.” Alibaba lists UPS and EMS as the current international carrier partners.

David Wei, CEO of Alibaba.com, was quoted in a company press release, “AliExpress was designed to give even the smallest business a competitive global trade advantage by offering better prices on smaller-quantity orders. Adding the Fulfillment service to the AliExpress platform allows us to further extend the international buying power of small businesses around the world, making the shipping and delivery of their business-critical goods as easy, safe and convenient as possible.”
