Universal Magazine acquires Australian B2B publisher

News this week: Australian consumer magazine publisher Universal Magazines has completed its acquisition of Westwick-Farrow Media, a B2B Australian publisher based in Sydney. Westwick-Farrow produces a series of industrial and technology-focused publications, with nine print titles and 11 industry-related websites. Westwick-Farrow also maintains a B2B events division through WFevents.

Universal Magazines plans to maintain much of Westwick-Farrow’s original operating structure as well as retaining its current staff, including associate publisher Geoff Hird, a 21-year veteran of the company and the chairman of Publishers Australia – an Australian publishing industry association. No financial details of the deal were disclosed.

Westwick-Farrow’s title and digital properties cover industries such as food processing, IT, electrical and industrial manufacturing sectors. Titles part of the deal include: What’s New in Electronics, What’s New in Process Technology, Radio Comms Asia-Pacific and Voice+Data, which will add to Universal Magazines’ sole B2B title Outdoor Design Source, a publication on outdoor landscaping.
