News this week: Hainan’s largest exhibition venue, the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center (HICEC) will be completed on 28th June after a 17-month construction period. HICEC is made up of a 77,000 m2 exhibition centre as well as a 42,000 m2 convention centre. The venue will reportedly host nine exhibitions and four conferences within this year, and will host the Pan-PRD Regional Cooperation and Development Forum in 2012. The Hainan Provincial government has stated that it will lend financial support to large-scale exhibitions held on the island-province according to its size.
The venue’s first large-scale exhibition, the China Hainan International Auto Expo, will open on 8th July to coincide with HICEC’s official opening date. The event will occupy 33,000 m2 of indoor exhibition space.
